TALL POPPIES - FOUR VIOLENCES
Drawing on texts by Livy, Shakespeare and contemporary sources we worked on a small research project to think about historical and contemporary representations of tall poppies.
Made by Aaron Orzech, Alex Senior, Ben Hjorth, Justin Clemens, Lauren Bliss, Peter Eckersall, Sarah Comyn, Tyne Sumner, and myself.
TALL POPPIES – FOUR VIOLENCES was a pilot interdisciplinary research project combining the study of classical sources of literature and culture, performance, media, and the analysis of contemporary society.

GRAPHINA
Graphina was an hour long theatre piece, written for my honours year in Drama at the University of Auckland, for which I received First Class Honours. “The Tragedy of Mariam, the Fair Queen of Jewry” by Lady Elizabeth Carey (a Jacobean closet drama, and the first play by a woman in English). Inspired by a fascination with the nature of closet drama, and a predilection for puns, I wrote a queer re-imagining of the circumstances of the play’s origin, melding biographical detail, pieces of Carey’s original script, and blatant lies, switching between verbatim quotes and contemporary language. The piece utilised masks handmade by me, inspired by the art Karl Jung included in "The Red Book", this last a work which, along with Herman Hesse's "Steppenwolf" influenced "Graphina" in the project's concern with of the others we carry within ourselves: "my mind the stage" as declared it. "Graphina" was performed as a staged reading, featuring a talented and generous cast of student actors, and also involved the serving of lambswool, and an exhibition of Joseph Cornell inspired boxes, made from dresser drawers, again focusing on the lineage of domestic surrounds influencing women's fiction, as well as the effect of insularity on imagination.

This was a show in Edinburgh Fringe Festival, with "The Luvvies", an LGBTQI theatre company. I wrote and performed an original monologue called "Dr Expert" as part of this show. Enjoy this upside down flyer. :)
What Women Want
I wrote a couple of scenes deemed a 'very touching' storyline, in a play about suffragettes performed by Citadel Arts Group in Edinburgh Fringe Festival. It was organised to coincide with a march celebrating 100 years of a huge suffragette march in Edinburgh.

Curtain Project by Laura Wilson
This didn't exactly require huge reserves of skill or talent, but it was a cool thing to be a part of.
